The Summit Tunnel - Diversity & Pride:
BUILDING THE AMERICAN NATION
Chinese American Legacy
Kennedy Center, Washington, DC.
National Landmarks and Monuments designate places that the United States government recognizes as nationally significant in American history and culture. They illustrate the heritage of the United States. There are a few places where the concentration of monumental challenges and equally monumental accomplishments and displays the imagination, talent, and skill, perseverance, courage, determination of diverse peoples... over several hundred years...as there are at the Summitt Tunnel site. So much of it and the educational value and national ride from the site are ignored and being wasted, and increasingly damaged. It is a shame that no federal effort and public-private partnership has effectively protected the site to ensure the stories and continuing historical significance are known among generations of Americans and shared with millions of visitors.
